Bank of America Champions Local Entrepreneurs Through Small Business Spotlight Program
Bank of America (BofA) reinforces its commitment to supporting small businesses with the announcement of the four beneficiaries selected for its Small Business Spotlight program. This initiative will showcase local entrepreneurs at the Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park in New York City. Over the course of more than two weeks, these businesses will operate rent-free, providing them with a prime opportunity to present and sell their products to a diverse audience during one of the city's busiest shopping seasons. Last year, the holiday shops at Bryant Park generated an impressive $50 million in sales, underscoring the potential for significant exposure and revenue for the participating entrepreneurs.
The selected businesses this year include Tribe & Oak, JAY CERAMICS, and Smar Art. Tribe & Oak, co-founded by Taylor Tankson and Kareem Wallace, specializes in eco-friendly luxury home essentials, featuring products such as scented candles and body care items. JAY CERAMICS, created by Judy Suh, presents handcrafted tableware inspired by her Korean heritage. Meanwhile, Smar Art, founded by Sarah Mar during the pandemic, has evolved from producing greeting cards to vibrant stickers and prints made from recycled paper. This year’s participants add to a growing network of over 20 entrepreneurs supported by Bank of America since the initiative began in 2020, highlighting the bank's ongoing dedication to fostering local economic growth.
José Tavarez, president of Bank of America New York City, emphasizes the vital role of small businesses in strengthening the local economy. By covering shop rental fees and managing the build-out for these featured businesses, BofA not only alleviates financial burdens but also fosters community engagement and entrepreneurial spirit. The Small Business Spotlight program not only provides visibility for these enterprises but also reflects BofA's strategy to actively contribute to the economic vitality of the regions it serves.
In addition to its support for small businesses, Bank of America also addresses broader financial literacy issues. Recently, personal finance expert Dave Ramsey has raised concerns about the practices of large banking institutions, urging individuals to consider alternative banking options that may better meet their needs. As consumers express growing unease regarding major banks, BofA's initiatives highlight the importance of personalized service and financial independence, aligning with Ramsey's advocacy for proactive financial management. By promoting small businesses and addressing customer concerns, Bank of America positions itself as a leader not only in banking but also in community engagement and empowerment.
