Innovative Health Care Training Center Launches in Sacramento
PDS Health® celebrates the successful completion of the first year of studies at the Pacific Health Care Collaborative, a groundbreaking initiative established in partnership with the University of the Pacific. Located in Sacramento, this innovative center combines dental and medical care while training future healthcare professionals, addressing a critical need for integrated health services in the region. The project features a state-of-the-art, 30,000-square-foot facility designed to serve thousands within the community, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare delivery.
The collaborative initiative stems from a substantial $4 million donation from Stephen E. Thorne IV, the founder and CEO of PDS Health®, and his wife, Pamela. Thorne's deep ties to the university, including multiple family alumni from the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, further enhance the project’s community connection. As the clinic prepares for its first patient screenings in late 2024, it plans to introduce dental services in January 2025 and medical services for Pacific students in May 2025. Thorne articulates the significance of this center, asserting, “This center represents the future of health care,” highlighting its role in fostering a new generation of clinicians who understand the vital connection between oral and overall health.
The Pacific Health Care Collaborative not only serves an educational purpose but also includes a mobile clinic, enhancing accessibility to care in underserved areas. This dual approach aims to improve patient outcomes and community health by integrating dental and medical services within a single framework. As the center nears full operation, it stands as a testament to PDS Health®’s commitment to innovative healthcare solutions and its dedication to shaping the future of health care delivery through education and community engagement.
In addition to the health care initiative, Clark Pacific is making strides in sustainable infrastructure with the recent groundbreaking of a new parking structure at the University of California, Berkeley. This project replaces an outdated facility with a modern, seismically resilient structure, reflecting the company’s expertise in prefabricated building systems. Clark Pacific's integrated approach ensures the project aligns with UC Berkeley's strategic goals while enhancing campus safety and sustainability.
Both developments underscore a broader commitment to innovation in their respective fields, with PDS Health® focusing on integrated healthcare education and Clark Pacific advancing sustainable construction practices. These initiatives demonstrate the potential for collaboration between education, health care, and infrastructure to create lasting impacts on communities.
