In response to this safety issue, GM advises owners to park their affected Silverado pickups outside and away from buildings until the recall repairs are completed. The company identifies the root cause of the problem as an unauthorized chemical used by a supplier in the production of the rubber diaphragm within the brake pressure sensor assembly. To mitigate this risk, GM plans to replace the brake pressure switch wire harness with one featuring a silicone sealant designed to prevent leakage.
