Siemens Partners with Caspia Technologies to Enhance SoC Security Features

Siemens Digital Industries Software has forged a partnership with Caspia Technologies to bolster security verification capabilities within its Questa™ One smart verification software portfolio. This collaboration emerges in response to the rising threats posed by AI-assisted cyberattacks, particularly targeting advanced System-on-a-Chip (SoC) designs. As the landscape of hardware security evolves, the need for robust verification processes becomes increasingly critical. The Questa One platform, known for its integration of connectivity, data-driven methodologies, and scalability, aims to significantly elevate the Integrated Circuit (IC) verification process, thereby enhancing engineering productivity while addressing contemporary security challenges.

The integration of Caspia's advanced security technologies into the Questa One suite introduces several innovative tools designed to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities early in the design stage. Notably, CODAx employs security-trained large language models to conduct static checks, identifying over 150 potential security flaws in early design RTL. This proactive approach allows engineers to rectify issues before they escalate into more significant problems. Furthermore, SVx enhances traditional formal verification tools through a threat model-driven methodology, enabling the creation of security assertions that directly address identified vulnerabilities. Together, these tools represent a comprehensive strategy for improving the security integrity of SoC designs in an era where cyber threats are increasingly sophisticated.

Caspia's PFx platform further enriches Questa One by providing an AI-powered validation environment that leverages co-simulation and emulation techniques to evaluate the attack resistance of designs under realistic conditions. Abhi Kolpekwar, vice president and general manager at Siemens Digital Industries Software, highlights that this collaboration is vital for adapting to the rapid evolution of AI-driven hardware security threats. The partnership not only aims to enhance user productivity but also reinforces security measures integral to the design process. Dr. Walden Rhines, chairman of Caspia Technologies, emphasizes the pressing need for advanced security solutions in today's technological landscape, underscoring the critical relevance of this collaboration in fostering a more secure digital ecosystem.

In addition to the advancements in security verification, this partnership reflects a broader trend within the semiconductor industry, which is increasingly prioritizing cybersecurity as a fundamental aspect of design and production. As companies like Siemens and Caspia Technologies work together to address vulnerabilities, the industry moves toward establishing more resilient systems capable of withstanding the challenges posed by evolving cyber threats. This collaboration signals an important step not only for Siemens but for the industry at large, reinforcing the necessity of integrating security into the very fabric of technological innovation.
