Southwest Gas Corporation Announces Bill Reductions for Nevada Customers

Southwest Gas Corporation recently reveals a significant development for its Nevada customers, announcing a reduction in gas bills that will take effect on July 1, 2025. This reduction comes as a result of the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) approving a decrease in the Deferred Energy Account Adjustment (DEAA) component of gas cost rates. The DEAA allows the company to track differences between its natural gas procurement costs and what it charges customers, thereby ensuring that customer bills accurately reflect market conditions. This adjustment is particularly timely, as it provides financial relief to customers amid rising costs associated with the Annual Rate Adjustment (ARA) and Base Tariff Energy Rate (BTER) that will also be implemented on the same date.

The new DEAA credit rates set by the PUCN provide substantial savings for customers across different regions of Nevada. Southern Nevada customers will benefit from a credit rate of $0.20 per therm, while Northern Nevada customers will see a higher credit rate of $0.25 per therm. These adjustments are anticipated to yield monthly savings of approximately $10.56 for Southern Nevada single-family residential customers and about $18.39 for those in Northern Nevada, based on average usage. Southwest Gas emphasizes its commitment to customer welfare, reaffirming that it does not profit from natural gas costs, instead purchasing gas on behalf of customers at market prices.

In addition to these adjustments, Southwest Gas Corporation highlights the collaborative efforts with the PUCN's Regulatory Operations Staff and the Bureau of Consumer Protection that made this reduction possible. The company continues to prioritize transparency in its pricing structure, encouraging customers to visit its website for detailed information on bill calculations and the various factors that influence their monthly statements. By maintaining a clear and open line of communication, Southwest Gas seeks to empower its customer base with the knowledge necessary to understand their energy costs.

In related developments, Southwest Gas Corporation continues to expand its reach and enhance service reliability for its over two million customers across Arizona, California, and Nevada. The company remains committed to fostering sustainable energy solutions, further solidifying its role as a crucial player in the energy sector while supporting community growth and wellbeing.
