Trilogy Metals Appoints Strategic Leadership for Ambler Metals’ Development Efforts
Trilogy Metals Inc. strengthens its management team as it progresses exploration and development activities at its 50/50 joint venture with South32 Limited, Ambler Metals LLC. The company aims to advance the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP) located in northwestern Alaska's Ambler Mining District. With the anticipation of a productive drilling season, Trilogy announces the addition of key professionals, including Michael Galicki as Vice President of Exploration, and Cole Schaeffer, both bringing vital expertise essential for broadening the resource base and exploring high-priority mineral targets.
Michael Galicki has an impressive background with over 15 years dedicated to base and critical metals exploration across North America. He is recognized for his leadership in executing remote, helicopter-supported programs, which are particularly relevant for the challenging environments this project may entail. Cole Schaeffer’s expertise comes from his notable experience working with Alaska Native Corporations and at Teck Resources Limited’s Red Dog Mine, where he focused on community engagement and Arctic operations. Their appointments are viewed as critical to positioning Ambler Metals on a path from exploration to development, unlocking significant value from the Arctic and Bornite deposits.
Alongside Galicki and Schaeffer, Jenna Tan has joined the management team, bringing her financial and commercial leadership skills honed through her work at South32’s Hermosa project. With a keen focus on supporting investment decisions for the Arctic Project, Tan’s role complements the strategic thrust of Ambler Metals. Additionally, Ron Rimelman’s extensive 40 years of mine-permitting experience, including his work on Donlin Gold, adds a vital layer of expertise necessary to navigate the FAST-41 expedited federal permitting process. This collective leadership aims to enhance community engagement, ensure environmental stewardship, and push forward with feasibility studies and technical evaluations.
In this pivotal year, the management team at Ambler Metals is committed to achieving concrete milestones that will advance the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects. Their focus remains on enhancing resources, securing long-term off-take agreements, and ultimately preparing the project for construction. The strategic appointments reflect Trilogy Metals’ dedication to establishing a sustainable, domestic source of critical minerals, all while proactively addressing community and environmental considerations throughout the development process.
