GTI Launches Global Recruitment for Intelligent RAN, Ubiquitous AI Project at MBB Forum 2024
At the Global MBB Forum 2024 held in Istanbul, GTI announces an ambitious global recruitment initiative for its Intelligent RAN, Ubiquitous AI Project, which is part of the broader 5G-A×AI Development Program. This project aims to create a synergistic relationship between advanced 5G-A networks and artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on enhancing operational efficiency, optimizing network performance, conserving energy, and monetizing user experiences. The initiative is supported by a consortium of leading industry partners, including GSMA, China Mobile, Telefónica, AIS, HKT, Zain, Leju Robot, and Huawei, all working collaboratively to explore innovative applications that drive business growth.
With the commercial rollout of 5G, approximately 5.94 million 5G base stations have been established globally, serving 1.87 billion users. The transition to 5G-A is generating new value across multiple sectors, prompting GTI to leverage generative AI technologies to foster the development of intelligent applications and multimodal interactions. The dual objectives of the Intelligent RAN, Ubiquitous AI Project are to enhance network productivity for global operators and to stimulate the mobile AI industry by integrating AI functionalities across various sectors. This includes promoting high-value use cases and innovative pilot projects that can redefine the telecommunications landscape.
Launched in May 2024, the 5G-A×AI Development Program has attracted more than 20 operators and partners from across Asia, the Americas, and Europe, all committed to establishing an open innovation community. These efforts are not just about developing new technologies; they also focus on creating open labs to facilitate collaboration and expedite the growth of the mobile AI sector. By merging 5G-A networks with AI, GTI aims to unlock new business opportunities and set industry benchmarks for future technological advancements.
In addition to recruitment efforts, GTI’s initiative reflects a crucial step towards transforming the telecommunications industry. The integration of AI into 5G-A networks is expected to significantly enhance the capabilities of existing technologies, paving the way for smarter, more efficient telecommunications solutions. As the industry evolves, GTI's proactive approach positions it at the forefront of technological innovation.
Overall, the Intelligent RAN, Ubiquitous AI Project represents a strategic move to harness the combined potential of AI and 5G-A, ultimately leading to enhanced connectivity and user experiences in an increasingly digital world.
