FMC and Corteva Join Forces to Enhance Crop Protection Solutions
FMC Corporation, a leading global agricultural sciences company, announces a strategic partnership with Corteva Agriscience to advance the distribution of its fluindapyr fungicide technology within the U.S. corn and soybean markets. This collaboration centers on providing U.S. growers with effective solutions to combat prevalent foliar diseases such as tar spot and southern rust. Under this agreement, both companies will actively market fluindapyr-based fungicide products. FMC will continue to offer its Adastrio® fungicide while also working on new formulations to expand its product lineup.
This partnership aims to significantly increase access to fluindapyr technology, covering approximately 95 million acres of corn and 80 million acres of soybean fields across the United States. According to FMC President Ronaldo Pereira, this initiative empowers farmers to better protect their crops and optimize their returns. Fluindapyr is classified as a Group 7 fungicide by the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC), providing extended residual control and serving as a critical tool in managing pathogens that have developed resistance to other fungicide classes. This functionality is particularly vital in the context of evolving agricultural challenges, where effective resistance management is increasingly important.
Corteva plans to introduce its fluindapyr-based product at the beginning of the 2026 growing season, contingent upon receiving approval from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The partnership underscores both companies’ commitment to empowering growers with advanced crop protection tools. Corteva North America's President, Jeremy Dirks, emphasizes the need for innovative solutions that enable successful crop production. FMC has already established fluindapyr products in markets such as Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico, and is looking to expand its reach to countries like Chile, Honduras, India, and Ukraine, pending regulatory approvals. This collaboration not only marks a significant milestone for FMC and Corteva but also contributes to the broader goals of sustainable agriculture and global food security.
In addition to the strategic partnership, FMC continues to focus on developing innovative solutions that address the challenges faced by modern agriculture. The company remains dedicated to providing farmers with effective tools to enhance productivity and sustainability. As they move forward with these initiatives, FMC's commitment to crop protection and agricultural advancement remains a priority.
