AGCO (AGCO) pushes retrofit autonomy, precision‑ag at 2026 Commodity Classic
- AGCO is using the 2026 Commodity Classic to promote retrofit autonomy and precision-ag upgrades for higher efficiency, fewer operator hours.
- AGCO centres exhibits on retrofit, showing PTx and Trimble conversions of tractors and grain carts into largely autonomous systems.
- AGCO frames retrofit packages and data workflows as practical, offers demos, financing, parts support and Massey Ferguson retrofit-ready machines.
DULUTH, Ga., Feb 17 (Reuters) - AGCO is using the 2026 Commodity Classic in San Antonio to press a commercial push for retrofit autonomy and precision‑ag technology aimed at professional farmers, highlighting how existing fleets can be upgraded to deliver higher efficiency and fewer operator hours.
Fendt and PTx show retrofit‑driven autonomy
AGCO is centring its exhibit on retrofit and scaleable autonomy, demonstrating how PTx and Trimble collaborations convert conventional tractors and grain carts into largely autonomous work systems. The company debuts the compact Fendt 500 Vario Series that pairs a smaller footprint with the FendtONE platform and smart‑farming features designed for mixed operations, while the 800 Vario Gen5 emphasises improved maneuverability, fuel efficiency and operator comfort. The Fendt 1000 Vario Gen4 is presented with PTx Trimble OutRun grain‑cart and tillage solutions to show fully autonomous sequences, giving growers a preview of next‑generation autonomy that integrates guidance, data workflows and retrofit kits rather than requiring whole new fleets.
AGCO positions retrofit offerings as practical, near‑term productivity tools
Across its more than 24,000 square feet of combined exhibits, AGCO is framing retrofit packages and data‑driven workflows as ways for farmers to quantify efficiency gains without full equipment replacement. Live demonstrations and detailed product previews are intended to let operators see autonomy routines, connectivity options and sensor integrations in operational contexts, highlighting how retrofits can be staged to match farm size and commodity mix. Company specialists are on hand to map technology pathways, discuss installation timelines and show how autonomy can be layered on existing implements to reduce labor costs and increase field uptime.
Massey Ferguson and customer engagement
Alongside Fendt, AGCO is positioning Massey Ferguson machines to serve professional farmers who need durable, no‑nonsense platforms that pair with retrofit autonomy and precision tools. The exhibit emphasises hands‑on trials and one‑on‑one consultations so growers can evaluate specific equipment choices for their operations.
Logistics, support and follow‑up
AGCO says attendees can arrange follow‑up on‑farm demonstrations and discuss financing, parts support and service plans at the show, aiming to move interested customers from showroom demonstrations to tailored implementation plans during 2026. Commodity Classic runs Feb. 25–27 in San Antonio.
