Aon elevates risk capital leadership amid market volatility

DUBLIN, Feb. 12 (Reuters) — Aon plc is appointing Joe Peiser as CEO of Risk Capital, a move that reinforces the firm’s push to link client risk exposures with a broader set of capital solutions and analytics. Peiser reports to Andy Marcell, CEO of Global Solutions, and the company is continuing a search for a separate CEO of Commercial Risk as it reconfigures leadership to scale capital-distribution capabilities across global markets.

Peiser named CEO of Risk Capital to integrate capital and analytics

Aon is positioning Peiser to lead its Risk Capital capabilities across Commercial Risk and Reinsurance Solutions, with a mandate to accelerate cross‑product market access and analytics-enabled advisory. The firm describes core elements of the strategy as distributing capital across insurance, reinsurance, captives, parametric covers, insurance‑linked securities and alternative capital markets, and expanding advisory services for capital structuring and emerging risks.

Under Peiser, Aon is intensifying use of advanced analytics and modelling to quantify risk choices and optimise clients’ total cost of risk, and is pursuing innovation in new risk‑transfer instruments, digital trading and market‑making capabilities. He is set to work closely with solution line and regional leaders and with Aon Business Services to drive end‑to‑end delivery, aiming to make capital more accessible and to better match clients with efficient forms of financing for volatility.

Operational push: analytics and digital trading

Aon is explicitly linking technology investments to product distribution, saying the integration of analytics, modelling and advisory will underpin faster structuring and placement of capital. The firm is expanding digital and trading capabilities to support alternative capital flows and parametric solutions, reflecting broader industry trends toward data‑driven risk transfer and market liquidity mechanisms beyond traditional reinsurance.

Leadership transition and experience

Peiser brings more than 30 years of industry experience and has led broking, risk consulting and client advisory roles across North America, the UK and Bermuda; he joined Aon in 2021 as Commercial Risk Leader for North America and becomes Global CEO of Commercial Risk in 2023. Andy Marcell highlights Peiser’s client relationships and industry knowledge as central to the role as Aon seeks to strengthen resilience and distribution for corporate clients amid rising volatility.
