Aurion Resources Expands Gold Mineralization in Kaaresselka Area
Aurion Resources Ltd. announces a significant advancement in its exploration efforts at the Kaaresselka area within its wholly owned Risti property in northern Finland. The company reports the results of a recent drilling campaign that encompasses seven holes totaling 1,243 meters, targeting the Vanha prospect. This initiative reveals substantial extensions of gold mineralization, with the mineralized system at Vanha now extended by 100 meters along strike, reaching an impressive 950 meters. The drilling program consistently intersects gold mineralization across all targeted holes, highlighting the area’s rich potential for further discoveries.
The latest drilling results showcase notable intercepts, including one that yielded 7.92 grams per ton (g/t) of gold over 13.60 meters and another with 3.33 g/t over 2.70 meters. These findings are corroborated by the geological context of the region, characterized by strongly deformed mafic volcanic and metasedimentary rocks. This geological setting suggests a robust and expansive gold system, which is further underscored by the identification of a new mineralized zone approximately 800 meters west-southwest of Vanha, where one intercept shows a promising 1.06 g/t Au over 15.35 meters.
Additionally, Aurion’s exploration efforts have identified elevated levels of base metals and platinum-palladium in several drill holes, enhancing the overall appeal of the Kaaresselka area. The proximity of this prospect to the notable Vuoma discovery, located just 15 kilometers away and previously reported at 28.64 g/t Au over 4.90 meters, adds to the strategic importance of this region. Initial metallurgical tests from the Vanha prospect reveal high gold recoveries exceeding 93.6%, indicating that the material is amenable to conventional processing methods, which could significantly enhance the economic viability of future operations.
Beyond the significant mineralization findings, Aurion Resources Ltd. remains committed to exploring and developing the Risti property. The continuous success in drilling at multiple sites within the Kaaresselka area positions Aurion as a key player in the Finnish gold exploration landscape. The company’s focus on rigorous geological assessments and metallurgical testing supports its goal of advancing the Risti project towards potential production.
With the recent discoveries, Aurion Resources not only reinforces its exploration strategy but also highlights the promising outlook for gold mining in northern Finland, a region that is increasingly recognized for its mineral-rich deposits.
