Health Net, a Centene unit, brings Hall of Fame spotlight to Sacramento
Salute to service and youth engagement centre stage in Medi‑Cal community outreach
Centene Corp’s Health Net partners with the Pro Football Hall of Fame to stage two community events in the Sacramento region as part of Super Bowl lead‑up activities, aiming to highlight frontline caregivers and bolster youth programs. The “Salute to Service” and “Strong Youth, Strong Communities” events take place at WellSpace Health’s Alhambra Community Health Center and draw Hall of Famers Warren Moon, Fred Biletnikoff and Darrell Green, along with NCAA participant Iman McFarland.
The morning “Salute to Service” programme honours medical professionals who serve vulnerable populations with a breakfast, autograph sessions and a tour of the clinic, reinforcing links between a major managed‑care plan and community health providers. Amber Kemp, Health Net’s vice‑president for Medi‑Cal strategy, execution and engagement, joins WellSpace Health COO Christie Gonzales and Sacramento Mayor Kevin McCarty in remarks that frame the events as recognition of healthcare staff and an effort to inspire civic responsibility among young people.
Health Net presents the initiative as part of its broader role in California’s Medi‑Cal managed care system, using celebrity engagement and local partnerships to raise the profile of regional caregivers and to provide practical encouragement for youth. Organisers say the combination of community recognition and hands‑on engagement is intended to strengthen Sacramento and West Sacramento’s civic and health fabric and to showcase the regional impact of coordinated public‑private efforts.
PR release frames events as recurring community recognitions
A PR Newswire release on Feb. 6 notes these annual gatherings are designed to recognise local heroes and give the next generation guidance and inspiration. Kemp says: “Together, we can create a healthier, stronger Sacramento for generations to come,” while Gonzales thanks Health Net and the Pro Football Hall of Fame for highlighting WellSpace staff’s “extraordinary dedication.”
WellSpace Health role and local leaders underscore regional focus
WellSpace Health, a non‑profit community health system providing medical, dental, mental‑health and substance‑use disorder treatment to Medi‑Cal, Medicare and uninsured patients, hosts the events to underline its regional service mission. Mayor Kevin McCarty’s remarks emphasise Sacramento’s culture of service as organisers seek to translate high‑profile attention into sustained community support.
