Chunghwa posts record annual revenue amid ICT push
5G and ICT expansion lift consumer revenue
Chunghwa Telecom is reporting that rising 5G penetration and expanding ICT services drive a stronger consumer segment, lifting group performance as the company closes 2025. Fourth-quarter total revenue is NT$65.65 billion, up 0.5% year‑on‑year, while full‑year revenue reaches an all‑time high of NT$236.11 billion, up 2.7%. The Consumer Business Group posts a 5.9% quarterly increase to NT$39.54 billion, supported by mobile momentum and higher uptake of 5G services.
Management frames digital innovation and steady ICT expansion as central to the consumer rebound, saying disciplined execution allows the company to monetise stronger networks and service bundles. Chunghwa’s full‑year Consumer revenue is NT$143.37 billion, up 2.4%, reflecting sustained demand for mobile and value‑added digital offerings that tighten customer engagement and drive average revenue per user improvements from 5G upgrades.
The company positions ICT growth as a diversification pillar that offsets headwinds elsewhere in its business mix. While the Enterprise Business Group shows some contraction and international revenue fluctuates, Chunghwa is focusing investment on network capabilities and ICT platforms to capture enterprise digitalisation and consumer 5G adoption, which management says underpins resilient margins and operational scalability.
Financial snapshot
Chunghwa reports Q4 operating income of NT$11.38 billion, down 2.2%, and EBITDA of NT$21.55 billion, down 0.2%. Net income attributable to shareholders of the parent rises 3.2% to NT$9.29 billion in the quarter, producing basic earnings per share of NT$1.20, the highest fourth‑quarter EPS in ten years. For fiscal 2025, the company posts operating income of NT$48.55 billion (+3.6%), EBITDA of NT$88.77 billion (+2.6%) and net income attributable of NT$38.69 billion (+4.0%), with basic EPS at NT$4.99, an eight‑year high.
Management view
Chairman and Chief Executive Chih‑Cheng Chien says Chunghwa concludes 2025 “with strong momentum,” attributing results to disciplined execution, operational excellence and expansion in the ICT sector. Management notes total revenue, operating income, net income and EPS all exceed the high end of full‑year guidance, and it signals continued focus on digital innovation and network investments to sustain growth.
