Entergy bolsters customer aid as cold snap raises usage

NEW ORLEANS, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Entergy is stepping up customer support as prolonged cold weather boosts energy demand across its Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas service territory, the utility says. On Feb. 3, 2026 the company emphasizes it is committed to helping customers manage higher winter bills by offering free resources, tools and long-standing partnerships with local organizations.

John Hudson, Entergy’s senior vice president and chief external affairs officer, says the utility expands access to energy-efficiency programs, flexible billing and emergency aid so vulnerable customers can stay safe and navigate financial pressure during extreme weather. The initiative leans on more than 25 years of collaboration with community groups and service agencies to deliver on-the-ground assistance alongside company-run offerings.

Entergy highlights a suite of digital and administrative tools designed to smooth seasonal spikes and improve household budgeting. Digital myAdvisor tools allow customers to track daily energy use, set consumption alerts and monitor costs in near real time. Level Billing evens out seasonal swings by averaging usage over time; Pick-A-Date lets customers choose the most convenient due date; PaperFREE delivers emailed bills with two years of instant billing history; and AutoPay reduces missed payments and late fees.

Bill help hubs and partner programs form the emergency and longer-term safety net. The Bill Toolkit serves as a one-stop portal for bill management, efficiency tips and financial-assistance links, while The Power to Care supplies emergency bill payment help for low-income older adults and customers with disabilities. Entergy’s Single Stop partnership connects customers to local, state and federal resources—including financial assistance, education, counseling and job training—and Super Tax Day events across the service area provide free tax preparation to help households maximize refunds.

Program availability and eligibility vary by offering and partner organization, and Entergy urges customers to contact the utility or local partners for enrollment details. Many services are free or low-cost to qualifying customers, with specific income and circumstance criteria set by program administrators.

Beyond immediate relief, Entergy says it continues year-round advocacy for policies that protect customer interests and ensure access to essential services. The company also reminds residents of practical conservation steps and the full set of support options available during winter cost pressures.
