Generac wins state manufacturing nod after major 2025 investments
WAUKESHA, Wis., Feb 20 (Reuters) — Generac Holdings Inc. is named a finalist in the Mega Category of the 37th Annual Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Awards, a recognition that highlights the company’s 65‑year manufacturing presence and recent waves of product and capacity investment across the state. The award program, announced in Waukesha, recognises manufacturers on innovation, philanthropy, technological advances and the quality jobs they create; Generac’s finalist status follows a year of significant new product launches and facility expansion.
Scale-up in Wisconsin underscores product and capacity push
Generac is emphasising its Wisconsin footprint as central to its global manufacturing strategy, operating ten locations in the state — including six manufacturing facilities — and employing more than 4,800 people who produce technologies deployed worldwide. In 2025 the company opens a 345,000‑square‑foot manufacturing facility in Beaver Dam that it describes as its most advanced to date, boosting domestic capacity for assembly and testing of power equipment and aiming to shorten lead times for commercial and residential customers.
Product innovation anchors the company’s push into resilient and clean energy markets. Generac introduces the most significant residential product upgrade in a decade, adding new features and tighter integration across its product ecosystem to give homeowners more control amid rising grid instability and energy costs. The Energy Technology division also debuts PWRmicro, a compact, installer‑friendly microinverter designed to increase energy capture from solar panels and simplify rooftop system deployment.
Generac is also targeting growing demand from data centres and industrial users. Its Commercial & Industrial unit launches a new high‑capacity generator line tailored for hyperscale, colocation, enterprise and edge data centres, responding to rapid artificial intelligence growth and higher uptime requirements. Company executives say these moves position Generac to supply resilient power and cleaner energy solutions worldwide and to continue investment, hiring and expansion through 2026.
Community and industry recognition
The Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year program is now in its 37th year and judges firms on customer satisfaction and community impact as well as technical achievement. Generac’s finalist designation is presented as evidence of sustained local investment and broader industry leadership in power technology.
Executive perspective
Chairman, President and CEO Aaron Jagdfeld says the finalist designation reflects Generac’s long record of designing, building and scaling solutions in Wisconsin and beyond, and underscores the company’s continued support for the state’s manufacturing community.
