Li-FT Power Ltd. Launches Exploration at Cali Lithium Project
Li-FT Power Ltd. (LIFT.V) initiates exploration activities at its Cali Lithium Project in the Northwest Territories, slated to commence on July 17, 2025. The project occupies a strategic position at the northwestern end of the Little Nahanni Spodumene Pegmatite Group, characterized by a robust structural corridor extending at least 13 kilometers long and several hundred meters wide. This location is significant as it houses multiple spodumene dykes, which are crucial for lithium extraction—the key material for battery production in electric vehicles and renewable energy storage.
Previous exploration efforts in the summer of 2023 yield promising results, with prospecting and sampling revealing contiguous dyke zones between 100 to 300 meters wide. Some dykes present high-quality spodumene crystals, with rock samples showing lithium oxide (Li2O) grades as high as 3.04%. In anticipation of the 2025 exploration program, Li-FT Power expands its claims in early 2024 by staking an additional 9,681 hectares, following an amendment approval to the Sahtu Land Use Plan. This expansion not only broadens the scope of exploration but also enhances the potential for significant lithium resources within the newly acquired claims.
The upcoming exploration program will focus on assessing the extension of the Little Nahanni structures into the newly staked areas. Planned activities include 1,100 meters of trenching across high-grade spodumene mineralization zones identified in 2023. The trenching will be executed perpendicular to the dyke corridors to evaluate the continuity of grade and width, which is critical for future drilling prospects. Moreover, the program will incorporate the collection of bulk metallurgical samples to analyze spodumene recovery through dense media separation (DMS), a crucial step in determining the viability of the lithium extraction process.
In addition to these exploration activities, Li-FT Power continues to prioritize sustainable practices and environmental stewardship in its operations. By focusing on responsible resource development, the company aims to contribute positively to the local economy and community in the Northwest Territories. This initiative aligns with the growing demand for lithium amid the global shift towards renewable energy solutions and electric vehicle adoption.
With the Cali Lithium Project's strategic location and the encouraging results from previous sampling, Li-FT Power positions itself as a key player in the lithium market, contributing to the supply chain necessary for the transition to greener energy sources. The upcoming exploration activities are anticipated to provide further insights into the project's potential, ultimately aiming to secure a robust lithium resource for future development.
