LightPath Technologies Secures $9.6M Defense Order, Expands U.S. Infrared Camera Production
- LightPath won a $9.6M cooled‑infrared camera order, delivering through 2026 from Orlando and New Hampshire using expanded U.S. capacity. • LightPath says the repeat order validates the G5 acquisition, vertical integration, and BlackDiamond chalcogenide glass competitive advantage. • Revenue rose to $16.4M with positive adjusted EBITDA; also secured a $4.8M public‑safety order and raised about $60M.
Large U.S. defense order drives domestic production push
LightPath Technologies is securing a $9.6 million purchase order for cooled infrared cameras from an existing defense customer, reinforcing its strategy of expanding domestic manufacturing for defense and security systems. The company says deliveries run throughout calendar 2026 and production will be split between its Orlando, Florida, and New Hampshire facilities to leverage recently expanded U.S. capacity. LightPath frames the cooled cameras as the system of choice for all‑weather surveillance, citing high performance, reliability and ease of use.
Management presents the repeat order as validation of both product capability and the strategic benefit of the G5 Infrared acquisition, which bolsters LightPath’s camera and module offerings. CEO Sam Rubin is highlighting that securing large, repeat orders demonstrates the company’s manufacturing scale and supply reliability as it supports shipboard long‑range surveillance, border security and counter‑UAS programs, alongside recurring federal, naval and law enforcement procurements. The company is emphasizing its vertically integrated model — from proprietary BlackDiamond™ chalcogenide glass materials under license from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory to full infrared optical systems and thermal assemblies — as a competitive advantage in meeting exacting government specifications.
LightPath is positioning the order as part of a broader push to be a mission‑critical domestic supplier for allied militaries and public safety agencies. The firm says its in‑house engineering and program‑level responsiveness enable tailored solutions for multi‑year contracts, while a focus on secure, domestic supply chains allows scaling to convert multi‑million dollar orders into production and revenue through 2026. The company plans to fulfill the contract using its expanded U.S. footprint and calls the deal evidence of growing, sustained demand for advanced infrared systems in defense and security applications.
Financial and order momentum
LightPath reports revenue of $16.4 million for the fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2025, up from $7.4 million a year earlier, with gross profit rising to $6.0 million. Adjusted EBITDA turns positive to $0.6 million. Management also notes a separate $4.8 million purchase order for advanced IR camera systems for public safety to be delivered in fiscal 2026.
Strategic additions and funding
The company acquires Amorphous Materials’ assets for chalcogenide glass melting capabilities in January 2026 and points to the earlier G5 deal as strategically important. LightPath strengthens leadership and manufacturing with the hire of Israel Piergiovanni as VP of Manufacturing and the addition of defense veteran Mark Caylor to the board, and it raises about $60 million in a December 2025 public offering to support working capital, capacity and strategic investments.
