Couples embrace gaming as a tool for connection, Logitech finds
Logitech International S.A.’s gaming division, Logitech G, is releasing survey data that frames video games as a measurable boost to romantic relationships. The company commissions Antenna Insights to survey more than 1,500 Australians aged 18–45 and finds couples who play together at least once a week register a net relationship satisfaction score of +47.3, versus +24.0 for those who rarely or never game together. The release coincides with Valentine’s Day and is presented as evidence that gaming is becoming a structured way for partners to spend quality time.
The research finds regular gaming couples report nearly 17 hours of quality time together per week, about 3.8 hours more than those who play less than once a week. Some 44% of respondents say they play video games with a partner occasionally or regularly, while 22% play rarely and 34% never do. Respondents cite teamwork and relaxation as primary benefits: 52% say gaming gives them something fun to do as a team, and many highlight reduced stress and cooperative problem-solving as advantages.
Daniel Hall, Senior Category Manager at Logitech G ANZ, frames the findings as a strategic insight into gamer behaviour rather than a leisure statistic. “Gaming isn’t just a solo hobby but a powerful tool for quality time, communication, and teamwork in romantic relationships,” he says. Logitech uses the study to argue that integrating gaming into routines creates predictable opportunities for connection across demographics and income levels.
Product launch connects with relationship messaging
Logitech G times the research with the launch of the Astro A20 X Gaming Headset, which it markets as featuring PLAYSYNC technology that lets players switch between consoles with a single button press. The company positions the new headset as a companion product for couples seeking seamless shared play sessions across platforms in the living room or on multiple devices.
Implications for peripherals and social gaming
Industry observers say the findings underscore a broader shift toward social and shared gaming experiences that can drive demand for peripherals designed for couples and households. For Logitech International S.A., presenting hard data on social benefits offers a marketing route that links lifestyle trends to product utility, potentially boosting interest in cross-platform features and accessories that enable longer, cooperative play sessions.
