PTC Advances Robotics Design with New Cloud-Native Integration
PTC enhances its position in the rapidly evolving robotics sector by launching a cloud-native design-to-simulation workflow that integrates its Onshape® CAD platform with NVIDIA’s Isaac Sim simulation framework. This development, presented at NVIDIA's GTC 2026 conference, marks a significant leap in the efficiency of robotics design processes. By enabling robotics teams to transition seamlessly from design to realistic simulations, PTC eliminates the delays traditionally associated with manual adjustments during the export of CAD models. The integration preserves critical mechanical relationships and automates updates in real-time, thus empowering teams to iterate quickly and accurately throughout the development cycle.
The collaboration between PTC and NVIDIA addresses a prevalent challenge in robotics design—swiftly adapting to changes. As Amar Dhaliwal, General Manager of FANUC America's Automation Systems Group, highlights, this integration provides early insights during the design phase, which are essential for making informed decisions that enhance project execution. The ability to rapidly simulate designs following modifications is crucial for companies striving for agility in their operations. This streamlined workflow supports robotics teams by reducing errors, accelerating development timelines, and enabling faster project iterations, ultimately leading to improved product outcomes.
David Katzman, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Onshape and Arena at PTC, underscores the importance of creating adaptable workflows amid rapid technological advancements. The merging of Onshape's collaborative design capabilities with NVIDIA's cutting-edge simulation tools not only simplifies the design process but also lays the groundwork for future developments in physical AI. With the expectation that such innovations will shape the future of automated solutions, PTC reiterates its commitment to enhancing its clients' automation investments and outcomes.
In conjunction with this new cloud-native capability, PTC also announces the completion of its strategic divestiture of the Kepware industrial connectivity and ThingWorx IoT businesses to TPG. This move, yielding cash proceeds of $523 million, allows PTC to sharpen its focus on its Intelligent Product Lifecycle vision. The net after-tax proceeds of approximately $375 million will support an accelerated share repurchase program, indicative of PTC's intent to reallocate capital towards growth-oriented initiatives while maintaining revenue growth expectations for FY'26.
As PTC navigates its strategic restructuring, it demonstrates a clear commitment to innovation in the robotics sector as well as in its overall business trajectory. The integration with NVIDIA is poised to enhance the robotics design and simulation landscape, setting a strong foundation for ongoing advancements in automation technologies.
