RE/MAX sells Libya master franchise, opens Baku hub to expand global franchising
- RE/MAX sold master franchise rights to establish RE/MAX Libya, headquartered in Tripoli.
- RE/MAX will roll out standardized systems, compliance, and marketing to boost agent productivity and transparency.
- RE/MAX opened a Baku office as a regional hub connecting local agents to its international pipeline.
RE/MAX bets on Libya with master franchise sale
RE/MAX is expanding its global franchising footprint by selling master franchise rights in Libya, a move the Denver-based real estate franchisor says will bring structured, professional brokerage services to a market it views as maturing. The new REMAX Libya operation, headquartered in Tripoli, is led by region owners Zyead Ghattour and Alhareth Ghattour with Ali Milad as regional director. The Ghattours bring more than a decade of local market experience and international franchise management to the effort, and they say Libya is ready for a modern, standardized approach to property transactions.
The company outlines a phased roll-out that begins with selling and opening independently owned and operated offices in Tripoli in the next few months and extends to broader national expansion as market conditions permit. RE/MAX says the Libyan franchise will adopt the network’s operational systems, compliance practices and marketing playbook to lift agent productivity and buyer-seller transparency. Company executives frame the initiative as part of a broader mission to elevate professional standards where RE/MAX operates, aiming to shape national norms in brokerage conduct and client service.
RE/MAX highlights its technology and referral ecosystem as central to the Libya strategy, saying agents there will plug into AI-driven tools, a global referral network and training resources that support lead generation, valuation and transaction management. The new leadership in Libya adopts the motto “now, not tomorrow,” signaling an emphasis on immediate capacity building and long-term market capture as the country’s real estate sector strengthens year by year.
Baku office opens as regional hub
Alongside Libya, RE/MAX opens a new office in Baku, Azerbaijan, positioning it as a regional hub to connect local agents to the company’s international pipeline. The Baku office exemplifies the franchise model of pairing local market leaders with global brand tools to accelerate agent success and cross-border referrals.
Company strategy underscores global franchise growth
RE/MAX frames both moves as consistent with its strategy to extend branded, systematized brokerages into underdeveloped or rebuilding markets, relying on local partners familiar with regulatory and cultural contexts. Executives say the combination of local leadership and centralized technology is intended to provide more consistent, credible services to buyers and sellers across diverse markets.
