Rock Tech Lithium Inc. Forms Strategic Partnership to Enhance European Battery Supply Chain

Rock Tech Lithium Inc. has entered into a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ronbay Technology Co., Ltd. to establish a localized supply chain for lithium-ion battery materials in Europe. This collaboration is poised to secure a long-term supply of battery-grade lithium hydroxide from Rock Tech's Guben Converter located in Germany, facilitating the production of critical materials needed for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. With an anticipated output of 24,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium hydroxide annually, the Guben Converter is set to support the production of batteries for over 500,000 electric vehicles each year, underscoring Rock Tech's commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.

The partnership with Ronbay, a recognized leader in cathode active materials, is expected to bring technical expertise and potential investments that will bolster Rock Tech's operational capabilities. This collaboration aligns with the growing demand for efficient and scalable production of battery components in Europe, which is crucial as the region transitions towards sustainable energy storage and electric mobility. By working together, Rock Tech and Ronbay aim to create a more resilient supply chain for lithium materials, an essential component for the burgeoning electric vehicle market, thereby mitigating risks associated with raw material sourcing.

In addition to the strategic supply chain collaboration, Ronbay's recent acquisition of a former Johnson Matthey facility in Poland marks a crucial step in establishing its presence in the European market. The company's phase-I project, which targets the production of 25,000 tons of mid-nickel/high-nickel ternary materials, is on track for commercial production by 2026. This development not only reinforces Ronbay's operational footprint in Europe but also enhances the overall localization of battery materials, increasing supply chain resilience and supporting the growth of a comprehensive battery value chain across the continent.

In a move to further consolidate its production capabilities, Rock Tech plans to expand its lithium production through additional converter facilities, including one planned for Ontario, Canada. This strategy aims to create a closed-loop production system that integrates raw materials from its Georgia Lake project, thereby enhancing sustainability and operational efficiency within the lithium supply chain. As both companies work towards strengthening their roles in the European battery market, their collaboration signals a pivotal advancement in the region's efforts to foster a sustainable energy future.
