SPG picks PTC FlexPLM to migrate licensed-product lifecycle to cloud
- SPG selects PTC’s FlexPLM to modernize its PLM on a scalable cloud platform.
- PTC frames the deal as strengthening data governance, streamlining workflows, and enabling collaboration.
- The SPG win reinforces PTC’s retail momentum and strategy of pairing software with implementation support.
PTC wins SPG contract to migrate licensed-product lifecycle to the cloud
SPG Company selects PTC’s FlexPLM to overhaul its product lifecycle management as it moves from a heavily customised legacy system to a scalable cloud platform. The agreement is framed as an end-to-end modernization: SPG will replace its existing PLM to support everything from early design and development through manufacturing and nationwide retail distribution. PTC presents FlexPLM as the central technology to deliver faster development cycles, more consistent product data and a foundation for future growth across SPG’s expanding licensed-product portfolio.
SPG is pursuing the change after its legacy PLM produces slow system response, inconsistent data and workflow bottlenecks that extend development timelines and affect downstream teams. Company executives stress the need for a platform that supports designers and product developers working in parallel, reduces manual handoffs and improves cross-functional visibility. SPG says the cloud-based FlexPLM provides improved performance and functionality and establishes a trusted partnership with PTC to scale operations and accelerate time-to-market for new collections.
PTC’s retail business unit frames the deal as an example of how cloud PLM addresses persistent operational frictions in retail and licensed-goods supply chains. PTC notes the implementation is intended to strengthen data governance, streamline workflows and enable more collaborative product execution across teams. The vendor positions FlexPLM as an enterprise-grade platform that reduces rework, supports future scalability and lowers risk for companies managing complex assortments and distributed manufacturing and distribution networks.
Cloud PLM adoption is increasingly common in the retail and licensed-products sector as brands seek to shorten design-to-shelf cycles and improve data consistency across sourcing, development and merchandising. Vendors such as PTC are marketing cloud-native PLM to replace customised on-premise systems that struggle with performance and maintenance as product portfolios and partner ecosystems grow.
For PTC, the SPG win reinforces momentum in its retail vertical and highlights demand for solutions that align with day-to-day workflow needs. The deployment underlines PTC’s strategy of coupling software capability with implementation support, positioning the company to gain additional implementations as retail and licensed-goods companies look to modernise product lifecycle operations.
