Wellesley insurer earns 17th straight perfect equality rating
SUSTAINING INCLUSION THROUGH BENEFITS AND PARTNERSHIPS
Sun Life U.S. is earning its 17th consecutive 100% score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2026 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), underscoring a sustained companywide push to formalize LGBTQ+ inclusion across policy, benefits and employee networks. The Wellesley, Massachusetts‑based unit says the perfect rating reflects a continuum of actions — from benefit design to external partnerships — that make workplaces safe and equitable for LGBTQ+ colleagues.
Diontha Fancher, Sun Life U.S.’s director of Inclusion & Belonging, says maintaining a perfect score “year after year confirms our genuine commitment to the inclusion and belonging of all employees,” and points to specific benefit changes intended to remove barriers. The company highlights fertility and family‑building support that does not require a medical diagnosis of infertility and a “chosen family” option within paid family leave as concrete measures that expand access for LGBTQ+ employees and their families.
Sun Life U.S. also cites its Pride Inclusion Network, ongoing sponsorships and participation in industry events as key pillars in sustaining the CEI ranking. The firm supports GLAAD, sponsors Out & Equal and participates in the Out & Equal Workplace Summit, while noting that the Human Rights Campaign sees transparent corporate communication and clear policies as drivers of trust, retention and stronger business outcomes.
BROADER WORKPLACE RECOGNITIONS AND OPERATIONS
The CEI score complements a string of workplace honors for Sun Life U.S., which is named a Best Employer for Diversity by Forbes, holds annual Great Place to Work certification and is listed among Top Places to Work by regional outlets including the Boston Globe, Hartford Courant, Baltimore Sun, Kansas City Star and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Tammi Wortham, senior vice president of human resources, highlights near‑95% retention and says Kansas City employees support the company’s disability, life, dental and technology services under a flexible hybrid work model and multi‑city hub structure.
CORPORATE NOTICE ON DIVIDENDS AND SCALE
Separately, Sun Life Financial Inc. announces a common share dividend of C$0.92 per share payable March 31, 2026, and declares dividends on several series of Class A preferred shares, continuing its routine capital‑return practices. The parent company, which reports C$1.60 trillion in assets under management as of Dec. 31, 2025, reiterates its global footprint across insurance, asset management, wealth and health solutions.
