Strategic Hire Boosts M&A and Advisory Muscle at Virginia National Bankshares
Virginia National Bankshares appoints veteran banker Robert Lee Burrows Jr. to its board and names him a director of its wholly owned subsidiary, Virginia National Bank, effective Feb. 25, 2026. The Charlottesville, Virginia-based holding company says the move strengthens board expertise to support continued growth, adding Burrows’ experience in transactions, advisory work and regional banking relationships. Chairman William D. Dittmar Jr. says Burrows’ judgment and knowledge will bolster the company’s strategic and oversight capabilities.
Burrows brings more than four decades in financial services, including founding Atlanta-based Banks Street Partners in 2008 and building it into a leading Southeast investment banking firm before selling it to Performance Trust Capital Partners in 2019. He retires as vice chairman of investment banking at Performance Trust in October 2025. Earlier in his career he co‑owns Trident Financial Corporation/Trident Securities, helps found ComSouth Bankshares and launches UB Bancorp, and he serves on numerous corporate and volunteer boards across the region.
The company signals that Burrows’ broad transactional experience and advisory skills will complement Virginia National’s strategic priorities and risk-management oversight. His track record in founding and exiting firms positions him to advise the bank on potential acquisitions, capital markets activity and long-term shareholder value and governance — areas the board highlights as central to its growth strategy as the bank pursues expansion and balance-sheet management in the Southeast market.
