Investor Insight
Why this opportunity matters now
Gunnison Copper Corp. (TSX: GCU | OTCQB: GCUMF | FSE: 3XS0) is America's newest copper producer, operating the Johnson Camp Mine (JCM) in Cochise County, Arizona and advancing its flagship Gunnison Copper Project — one of the most substantial open-pit copper development assets in the United States. With a 2026 PEA reporting an after-tax NPV8% of approximately US$2.0 billion and an IRR of 22.5%, the Gunnison Project is positioned as a key domestic solution to the global copper supply deficit.
Gunnison controls the Cochise Mining District, encompassing 12 known copper deposits within an 8 km economic radius in the Southern Arizona Copper Belt. The company's Johnson Camp Mine reached first commercial copper cathode sales in 2025 and operates in partnership with Nuton LLC, a Rio Tinto venture deploying advanced bio-leaching technology to expand production and unlock the district's sulfide potential. Gunnison fully eliminated its Nebari secured debt in early 2026, entering a debt-free position as it advances financing for the Gunnison open-pit project. The company's 100% Made-in-America copper cathode is targeted directly at U.S. energy, defense, data center, and manufacturing supply chains — markets facing a structural domestic copper shortage.

Who Gunnison Copper Corp is and what they do
Gunnison Copper Corp. is a multi-asset pure-play copper developer and producer headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Formerly known as Excelsior Mining Corp., the company rebranded in November 2024 and trades on the TSX (GCU), OTCQB (GCUMF), and Frankfurt Stock Exchange (3XS0). Gunnison develops and operates copper mines in Southern Arizona to produce fully Made-in-America finished copper cathode, supplying domestic energy, defense, and manufacturing supply chains.
The company controls the Cochise Mining District in southeastern Arizona, comprising 12 known copper deposits within an 8 km economic radius. Its operating asset, the Johnson Camp Mine (JCM), is now producing 99.999% pure copper cathode in partnership with Nuton LLC (a Rio Tinto venture), which is deploying proprietary bio-leaching technologies to expand production capacity to up to 25 million pounds of finished copper cathode annually. Gunnison's flagship development asset, the Gunnison Copper Project, is located approximately 65 miles east of Tucson on the southeastern flank of the Little Dragoon Mountains and is designed as a conventional open-pit, heap leach, SX/EW operation with a direct rail link, producing finished copper cathode on-site. The company prides itself on hiring locally, purchasing locally, and selling its products domestically.
