In collaboration with BHE Transmission and under the auspices of the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), this nearly 200-mile, 765-kV transmission line project aims to enhance grid reliability and meet the escalating energy demands in the MISO region. As part of a competitive planning initiative, the project is designed to ensure that cost, implementation, and maintenance are optimized, setting a new standard for future energy infrastructure projects.

Doug Cannon, president of AEP Transmission, articulates the company's commitment to leveraging its extensive experience in 765-kV line development. With AEP owning 86.5% of Transource Energy, the venture is poised to utilize its existing infrastructure—boasting over 2,000 miles of 765-kV lines, the largest in the United States. These high-capacity lines are capable of transmitting six times more energy than traditional 345-kV lines while requiring significantly less land. This innovative approach not only supports the growing electricity demands across multiple states but also contributes to affordability and reliability, as emphasized by BHE Transmission's CEO, Ed Rihn.
