Air Products & Chemicals, a prominent player in the global industrial gases market, recently inaugurates its new air separation facility in Cleveland, Ohio, which is now fully operational. This facility not only enhances the company’s capabilities but also underscores its commitment to serving a diverse range of customers. With the ability to produce gaseous oxygen, gaseous nitrogen, and liquid argon, the facility caters to an onsite customer under a long-term contract while simultaneously addressing the demands of the regional merchant market. The strategic location of the Cleveland facility enables Air Products to leverage its established presence in the area to better serve industries such as chemicals, food, electronics, metals, health and medical, and utilities.
Francesco Maione, President of Air Products' Americas division, highlights the importance of this expansion in enhancing service delivery to a varied customer base. The new air separation plant not only boosts the company’s production capabilities but also acts as a liquid backup source for other customers in the vicinity, thereby reinforcing Air Products' operational resilience and reliability. This move reflects the company’s deep roots in Cleveland, where it has been a vital supplier since the 1960s, adapting to the evolving needs of its clientele over the decades.
In addition to the new facility, Air Products is also reinvesting in the existing air separation unit and liquefier plant at the same site to extend its operational life. This proactive approach to infrastructure management signifies the company’s commitment to maintaining high-quality service standards while optimizing its resource capabilities. With a robust fiscal performance of $12.1 billion in sales for fiscal 2024 and operations in about 50 countries, Air Products continues to assert its leadership in the industrial gases sector and is actively advancing projects aimed at supporting the transition to clean hydrogen and low-carbon energy solutions.
