Over the past seven years, the Foundation has disbursed a total of $280,000 to the Center for Aquatic Sciences, which uses these funds to enhance its Community and Urban Science Enrichment (CAUSE) program. Since its establishment in 2012, the American Water Charitable Foundation has invested over $20 million in grants and matching gifts to eligible organizations within American Water's service areas. In a separate development, New Jersey American Water confirms its acquisition of the Hopewell Borough water system for $6.4 million, following a favorable referendum. This acquisition, which serves over 880 connections, includes a commitment to invest $7 million in infrastructure improvements within five years. President Mark McDonough states that the company plans to replace all lead and galvanized steel service lines by 2031, further enhancing water safety and service reliability for local residents.
