Applied Industrial Technologies Expands Fluid Power Solutions with Acquisition of Hydradyne
Applied Industrial Technologies Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Hydradyne, LLC, a prominent provider of fluid power solutions based in Dallas, Texas. This strategic acquisition positions Applied as a stronger player in the fluid power and motion control systems market, as Hydradyne is recognized as one of the largest distributors in the United States with nearly 500 employees across 33 locations in the Southeastern U.S. The deal is anticipated to generate approximately $260 million in sales and $30 million in EBITDA in the first year, excluding transaction-related expenses and synergies.
CEO Neil A. Schrimsher emphasizes that the acquisition serves to enhance Applied's Engineered Solutions segment and improve its technical capabilities, particularly in the growing Southeast region of the United States. Hydradyne’s expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, and electromechanical systems aligns well with Applied’s long-term goals, enabling the company to better serve its diverse markets. This move reflects Applied’s commitment to providing high-quality maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) and original equipment manufacturing (OEM) solutions, addressing the evolving needs of its customers.
Lon Jennings, President of Hydradyne, expresses optimism about the merger, highlighting the complementary strengths of both organizations. He notes that the acquisition will allow Hydradyne to leverage Applied’s resources and values-based approach, which he believes is the best fit for the company’s employees, customers, and suppliers. Both leaders recognize that the merger positions their combined entity to better meet the increasing demand for advanced fluid power systems, driven by trends such as reshoring, equipment modernization, and electrification. The integration of Hydradyne into Applied is set to significantly enhance market presence and service capabilities.
In addition to the direct benefits of the acquisition, the collaboration is expected to create numerous cross-selling opportunities and bolster market penetration in a competitive industry. As the demand for fluid power solutions rises, particularly in the context of technological advancements and evolving customer needs, Applied Industrial Technologies is poised to emerge as a more formidable player, delivering enhanced value for its stakeholders and driving innovation in fluid power solutions. The acquisition thus marks a significant step in Applied’s growth strategy, paving the way for future developments in the sector.
