EliTe Solar Expands Globally with New Facility in Egypt
EliTe Solar, a leading solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturer headquartered in Singapore, takes a significant step in its global expansion strategy by breaking ground on a new manufacturing facility within the TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone in Egypt. The ceremony, which took place on December 16, 2024, marks a crucial development for both the company and the Egyptian solar industry. The new facility is projected to have a production capacity of 5 gigawatts (GW) and will occupy a sprawling 78,000 square meters. Operations are slated to begin in September 2025, featuring dedicated production lines for 2GW of solar cells and 3GW of solar modules.
The event drew notable attendees, including Mr. Waleid Gamal Eldien, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, who emphasized the project’s importance in modernizing Egypt's manufacturing landscape. He stated that the introduction of sophisticated manufacturing technologies would not only elevate local production standards but also enhance supply chains, ultimately positioning Egypt as a key player in the global solar market. EliTe Solar’s investment is expected to invigorate the local solar sector, improve export capabilities, and significantly contribute to Egypt's goal of achieving a 42% clean energy transformation by 2030.
This initiative not only strengthens EliTe Solar's manufacturing footprint but also aligns with Egypt's aspirations to become a regional hub for renewable energy production. By fostering technological advancements and creating new job opportunities, EliTe Solar's facility stands to drive economic growth and enhance the nation's influence within the burgeoning solar industry. As the project progresses, it is anticipated to serve as a catalyst for further developments in Egypt's renewable energy landscape, reinforcing the country’s commitment to sustainability and economic diversification.
In a related development, Waaree Solar Americas Inc., a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd., recently announced the trial production of its first solar module at its new facility in Brookshire, Texas. This milestone marks Waaree as the first Indian company to establish a PV module manufacturing site in the U.S., further illustrating the growing international cooperation in the renewable energy sector.
Both EliTe Solar and Waaree Solar's investments highlight a trend of expanding manufacturing capabilities in the renewable energy industry, driven by advances in technology and an increasing demand for clean energy solutions. These developments signal a promising future for solar energy production, not only in Egypt and the U.S. but across the globe.
