Revitalizing Consumer Trust Through Enhanced Communication Strategies
Broadridge Financial Solutions Inc. recently unveils findings from its seventh annual CX and Communications Consumer Insights study, revealing a worrying trend in consumer trust across North America. The study, which surveyed over 4,000 American and Canadian consumers, indicates that 59% of respondents feel a significant decline in trust towards companies due to subpar experiences and unclear communication. This alarming statistic highlights the pressing need for companies to reassess their customer engagement approaches. Furthermore, a staggering 71% of respondents assert that most companies must enhance their customer experience, with this sentiment having doubled since 2019. As the president of Broadridge Customer Communications, Christoph Stehmann, notes, effective customer communication is essential for maintaining a loyal customer base.
The study identifies three critical functions that companies must prioritize to rebuild consumer trust: honoring preferred communication channels, ensuring easy engagement across these channels, and simplifying business interactions. Notably, 39% of consumers emphasize the importance of preferred communication methods, while 38% advocate for seamless engagement experiences. Simplifying business interactions resonates with 33% of respondents. These insights underscore a clear directive for businesses: to cultivate trust, they must adapt their communication strategies to meet evolving consumer expectations. By addressing these gaps, companies can establish stronger connections with their customers, ultimately leading to improved loyalty and satisfaction.
Broadridge's research introduces two customer personas that businesses should consider when developing their customer experience strategies. The first group, Engaged Explorers, seeks depth and personalized content, with a preference for interactive emails and centralized digital billing. However, despite this demand for enhanced experiences, only 15% of Engaged Explorers report receiving a quality experience from companies. The second persona, Practical Optimizers, values straightforwardness and efficiency. Understanding these distinct personas will be essential for businesses striving to refine their communication and engagement efforts, ensuring they resonate more effectively with their target audiences.
In addition to its consumer insights study, Broadridge recently completes a significant milestone by facilitating the first digital bond issuance in the U.S. through Societe Generale. This transaction showcases Broadridge's advanced tokenization capabilities, which promise instant settlement and increased transparency while adhering to traditional capital market practices. Moreover, Broadridge's partnership with Xceptor aims to develop a unified digital platform that automates the global tax relief and reclaim lifecycle, further enhancing compliance and risk management for financial institutions. These initiatives not only reflect Broadridge's commitment to innovation in the financial sector but also its dedication to addressing the complexities of modern financial operations.
