CAE Expands Aviation Training Footprint in Central Europe with New Facility

On September 4, 2025, CAE, a recognized leader in aviation training, officially inaugurates its first business aviation training center in Central Europe, located in Vienna, Austria. This state-of-the-art facility, operational since April, is designed to meet the growing needs of the aviation sector in the region. With the increasing demand for skilled professionals in business aviation, CAE Vienna is set to become a crucial training hub. The center is equipped to offer pilot training on several aircraft types, including the Gulfstream G550, Bombardier Global 7500, and Global 6000, complemented by a full-flight simulator for the Embraer Phenom 100/300, established through a joint venture with Embraer CAE Training Services. Looking ahead, a Bombardier Challenger 3500 simulator is scheduled for installation in October, while a Pilatus PC-24 simulator is anticipated in the latter half of 2026.

The strategic establishment of CAE Vienna is not just a response to immediate training needs but also a proactive approach to future industry demands. Alexandre Prévost, the Division President for Business Aviation at CAE, notes that Europe will require approximately 7,000 new pilots and 9,000 new maintenance technicians over the next decade. This forecast underlines the necessity for comprehensive training programs that CAE Vienna is well-positioned to deliver, with the capacity to train thousands of professionals annually. The center aims to provide a pipeline of skilled aviation personnel, addressing the anticipated skill shortages in the region and reinforcing CAE's commitment to excellence in aviation education.

The facility itself spans 86,000 square feet and is equipped with cutting-edge technology designed to enhance the training experience. Features include self-service kiosks, a barista café, and a pilot lounge, all of which contribute to a comfortable and efficient environment for trainees. Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, Austria's Federal Minister for Economy, Energy and Tourism, emphasizes that CAE Vienna not only bolsters the nation’s aviation training capabilities but also enhances Austria's status as a strategic hub for aviation and innovation. This development aligns with CAE’s broader mission to deliver high-quality education and skilled training, which is increasingly vital in the rapidly evolving aviation landscape.

In addition to pilot training, CAE Vienna offers maintenance technician courses that include type and technical training, further expanding its educational offerings.
