CleanSpark, Inc. has made a significant move in the data center industry by entering into a definitive agreement to acquire up to 447 acres of land in Brazoria County, Texas. This strategic acquisition positions CleanSpark to develop a large-scale data center capable of handling a 300 megawatt (MW) demand load, with potential expansions that could double this capacity to 600 MW. The deal, which is set to close in the first quarter of 2026, is contingent on receiving the necessary utility and property approvals. This venture marks CleanSpark's second major initiative in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) Houston region, following their earlier development efforts in Austin County. With this expansion, the company aims to enhance its regional capacity to over 890 MW, addressing the growing demand for robust and efficient data centers.

CEO Matt Schultz emphasizes the increasing need for AI-native compute capabilities and the challenges posed by limited access to high-capacity transmission power in key markets.
