Headline: Google Cloud and Cognizant push agentic AI into enterprise operations
Google Cloud and Indian IT services group Cognizant are moving beyond platform trials to deploy agentic artificial intelligence at enterprise scale, the partners announce. Cognizant is expanding a collaboration that adopts Google’s Gemini Enterprise models and will run Google Workspace alongside Gemini internally to boost productivity and delivery velocity, while offering a combined Gemini–Workspace productivity product to customers that automates fragmented tasks into AI-driven workflows for collaborative content creation and supplier communications.
Cognizant is establishing a dedicated Gemini Enterprise Centre of Excellence and is operationalising delivery through an Agent Development Lifecycle that spans design and blueprinting through implementation, validation and production rollout. The company says it will leverage tools such as Cognizant Ignition, enabled by Gemini, to accelerate discovery, prototyping and data‑foundation optimisation. Cognizant positions itself as an “AI builder” with proprietary IP and an industry-tailored approach that aims to embed context into agents and co‑create solutions specific to client needs across sectors.
Both companies frame the move as turning AI strategy into governed, deployed systems that can run in real‑world environments. Google Cloud signals the partnership as part of its push to make large language and multimodal models enterprise-ready with measurable business impact, while Cognizant emphasises repeatable implementation models and scaled delivery investments to translate proofs of concept into widespread internal deployment and commercial execution.
Other relevant developments
Separately, Google Cloud announces a landmark five‑year partnership with consumer goods group Unilever to migrate its integrated data and cloud platform to Google Cloud and adopt an AI‑first backbone using Vertex AI and Gemini models. The tie-up centres on agentic commerce, integrated data foundations and advanced AI to speed measurement, personalisation and supply‑chain responsiveness across Unilever’s global brands.
Energy procurement tied to Google operations also advances: Ormat Technologies says it signs a long‑term geothermal power‑purchase agreement with NV Energy to supply renewable baseload power in support of Google’s Nevada operations. The deal links a geothermal generator, a regional utility and Google’s on‑site needs as companies seek durable, low‑carbon power for expanding AI compute footprints.
