Heartland Express Paves the Way for Economic Resilience through New Initiatives

Heartland Forward introduces the Center for Investment Readiness (CIR), an initiative aimed at enhancing investor confidence and supporting growth in micropolitan and small metropolitan areas across the heartland. The ambitious "30 by 2030" plan targets 30 communities, focusing on tailored support and data-driven strategies to foster competitiveness and economic growth. Under the leadership of Angie Cooper, the center seeks to provide communities with essential tools for job creation and business development, leveraging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) to improve local economies and health access.

CIR's strategic approach encompasses four core areas: optimizing local development, supporting businesses, sharing knowledge, and delivering programmatic solutions. By adopting a data-driven and scalable framework, the center aims to create community profiles that reflect workforce quality and capital flows, enabling local stakeholders to make informed decisions. The first beneficiaries of the CIR initiative, including Enid and Perry in Oklahoma and Hutchinson in Kansas, will receive customized data analytics, entrepreneurial mapping, and access to expert resources tailored to their unique economic landscapes. This targeted support is crucial for empowering these communities to enhance their competitiveness and innovation capabilities.

Dr. Marcie Mack from the Enid Regional Development Alliance underscores the significance of Enid, known as the "Wheat Capital of the United States," in the national infrastructure. With a low unemployment rate of 3% and a robust industrial base, Enid exemplifies the potential that CIR aims to unlock across the heartland. The center’s efforts are designed to ensure that the 20 states within this region continue playing a vital role in the global economy, adapting to changing market demands and leveraging local strengths to attract investment and drive growth.

In addition to the CIR launch, Heartland Forward co-hosts the "Big Bets for America: Oklahoma City" event, gathering over 200 stakeholders from diverse sectors to discuss community growth strategies. The event emphasizes the importance of collaboration in addressing challenges and seizing opportunities for economic advancement. Notably, the Heartland AI Caucus is established to promote responsible AI policies and foster cross-state collaboration among legislators, highlighting the heartland's commitment to becoming a national leader in AI-driven economic development.

These initiatives represent a concerted effort by Heartland Express and its partners to drive meaningful change in the region. By focusing on investment readiness and the strategic application of technology, the heartland is poised to enhance its economic resilience and ensure that local communities thrive in an evolving global landscape.
