MakeMyTrip Enhances Corporate Travel Solutions with Happay Acquisition
MakeMyTrip, a leading force in India’s online travel sector, solidifies its commitment to enhancing corporate travel services through the acquisition of the Happay Expense Management Platform from CRED. This strategic move, formalized via a Business Transfer Agreement, is designed to elevate MakeMyTrip's offerings in corporate travel and expense management. Happay, recognized for its sophisticated expense management capabilities, serves over 900 corporate clients and provides data-driven insights that facilitate efficient expense tracking and reporting. Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, notes that this acquisition aligns seamlessly with the company's mission to lead the rapidly growing corporate travel sector, which is increasingly driven by innovation and improved user experience.
The transaction, expected to close within 90 days, allows Happay’s dedicated team to continue delivering exceptional support to its existing clients while integrating into MakeMyTrip's corporate travel services. This integration will enable MakeMyTrip to leverage Happay's technology and expertise, enhancing its MyBiz platform that currently serves over 59,000 corporate clients and Quest2Travel, catering to more than 450 large corporations. As businesses increasingly shift towards self-service platforms for corporate travel booking, this acquisition positions MakeMyTrip to offer more streamlined and effective solutions tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as larger corporates.
Happay’s payments division will remain with CRED, which has recently introduced a B2B payments solution on Bharat Connect in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Kunal Shah, Founder of CRED, emphasizes that maintaining distinct focuses within each vertical is essential for scalability and effectiveness. MakeMyTrip aims to build on its impressive history of over 77 million lifetime transacted users and continue reshaping the landscape of corporate travel and expense management in India. This acquisition not only reinforces MakeMyTrip's growth strategy but also sets new standards in the industry, ensuring it remains at the forefront of travel technology innovation.
In addition to the acquisition news, MakeMyTrip’s ongoing efforts to enhance its technological capabilities signal a broader industry trend toward digital transformation in travel services. The company’s focus on consumer insights and user-friendly platforms positions it well to adapt to changing market demands. This strategic acquisition and the continuing evolution of its services illustrate MakeMyTrip’s dedication to providing comprehensive and effective travel solutions for businesses across India.
