Fourth Avenue Restaurant Seeks to Blend National Brand with Local Character
Nathan's Famous is opening a new fast-casual restaurant at 628 North 4th Avenue in Tucson, stepping into a neighborhood known for students and visitors near the University of Arizona. The Jericho, N.Y.-based chain is placing the outlet within walking distance of the free Fourth Street streetcar stop to capture foot traffic in the historic entertainment district and to serve families, students and visitors exploring the area.
The company partners with local franchisee Michael Kramkowski, a developer and community leader who says he intentionally pursues a national brand with authentic heritage to complement Fourth Avenue’s independent spirit. Kramkowski, who owns multiple local properties and has spent more than two decades cultivating and preserving the neighborhood character, frames the Nathan's opening as a way to elevate dining options while fitting into the district’s mix of independent businesses.
Nathan's vice president of marketing Phil McCann says the Arizona entry reflects a strategy of accessible, neighborhood-focused locations that lean on franchise partners with local roots. The company highlights the central location and transit access as key to serving University of Arizona students and visitors, positioning the new restaurant as a convenience-driven stop for quick, familiar New York-style offerings.
