Neurocrine Biosciences Reveals Promising Results for INGREZZA® in Treating Tardive Dyskinesia
Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. announces significant findings from a post-hoc analysis of its Phase 4 KINECT-PRO™ study, which presents promising data regarding the efficacy of INGREZZA® (valbenazine) in achieving symptomatic remission in patients with tardive dyskinesia (TD). The study, showcased at Psych Congress 2025, indicates that 57.8% of participants experience remission by Week 24 of treatment. This analysis highlights the medication's effectiveness across varying dosages, with remission rates reported at 58.3% for the 40 mg dose, 44.4% for the 60 mg dose, and an impressive 62.5% for the 80 mg dose. These findings suggest that INGREZZA not only alleviates symptoms but also provides hope for patients dealing with this often debilitating condition.
The definition of remission in the study is based on an Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS) score of ≤1 for each body region, allowing for a clear and measurable outcome. Notably, participants who achieved remission also reported significant improvements in various patient-reported outcomes (PROs), such as the Tardive Dyskinesia Impact Scale (TDIS™), the Sheehan Disability Scale (SDS), and the EuroQoL Visual Analog Scale (EQ-VAS). These metrics reflect enhancements in physical, social, and emotional well-being, reinforcing the importance of targeting symptomatic relief in TD treatment. Sanjay Keswani, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at Neurocrine Biosciences, emphasizes that these results demonstrate the potential for earlier achievement of remission, a crucial goal in the treatment of tardive dyskinesia.
The KINECT-PRO analysis includes a diverse patient population, encompassing varying severities of TD and associated distress, thereby underscoring the broad applicability of INGREZZA as a treatment option. The findings signify a noteworthy advancement in therapeutic strategies for tardive dyskinesia, a condition that often impacts daily life and mental health. Neurocrine's commitment to understanding and addressing the complexities of TD through innovative treatments positions it at the forefront of transforming patient care in this challenging area.
In addition to the promising results from the KINECT-PRO study, Neurocrine Biosciences continues to explore the broader implications of its research on neurological conditions. The company remains focused on developing solutions that not only improve clinical outcomes but also enhance the quality of life for patients. As the landscape of treatment options expands, Neurocrine stands out as a leader in advancing therapies for disorders that currently lack sufficient treatment avenues.
