ATLANTA, Feb 18 — Graco, the baby gear division of Newell Brands, unveils a rotating infant car seat designed to reduce the physical strain of daily loading and unloading while preserving vehicle seating space. The SnugRide Turn & Slide Rotating Infant Car Seat is the company’s first rotating infant seat, and it combines a 180° turn toward the caregiver with a glide-on/glide-off base so the carrier moves smoothly on and off without full lifting or twisting. Graco frames the product as an engineering response to repetitive caregiver demands rather than a simple convenience feature.
The new seat’s turn-and-slide mechanism is engineered to lower caregiver musculoskeletal strain by minimizing bending, reaching and lifting during frequent in-and-outs, including the first ride home from the hospital. Unlike many rotating seats that swing into adjacent seating space, Graco’s design prioritizes second-row clearance, supporting three-across seating in many vehicles and keeping the neighbouring seat usable. The company presents this as particularly relevant for growing families and for caregivers who may be recovering from childbirth or assisting multiple children.
Graco stresses that the product does not sacrifice safety for convenience, positioning the Turn & Slide to meet the brand’s established safety benchmarks while enabling face-to-face interaction during loading to soothe and engage infants. The PR release emphasises caregiver comfort, increased connection during travel, and reduced repetitive strain as central product goals, and presents the rotating and glide features as a balanced solution for practicality and protective performance.
Product details indicate the seat rotates toward the caregiver and glides on and off its base to ease transfers in tight parking spots and while managing bags or siblings. Graco highlights that the configuration reduces intrusion into adjacent seating and aims to preserve vehicle seating flexibility, which it frames as a selling point for families who need three-across seating.
In the broader consumer goods market, the announcement underscores Newell Brands’ focus on functional, ergonomics-driven innovation in infant and juvenile products. The move aligns with industry trends toward designs that address caregiver health and convenience, while maintaining regulatory safety standards and competitive differentiation in a crowded baby-gear segment.
