NuScale Power Welcomes New Leadership as It Advances SMR Technology

NuScale Power Corporation, a pioneer in small modular reactor (SMR) technology, announces that Alan Boeckmann will become the Non-Executive Chairman of its Board of Directors starting January 15, 2025. Boeckmann, who has served on the board since December 2020, takes over from Jim Hackett, who is stepping down to avoid the over-boarding issue associated with holding multiple director roles. This leadership transition is significant for NuScale, as it seeks to solidify its position as a leader in delivering innovative and scalable nuclear energy solutions, crucial for the ongoing global energy transition.

Boeckmann's extensive experience in the energy sector positions him well to contribute to NuScale’s strategic mission of providing safe and carbon-free energy. Under his leadership, the company aims to enhance its focus on diverse applications of nuclear energy, including electrical generation, data centers, and hydrogen production. The NuScale Power Module™, which is the first SMR to receive design certification from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, generates 77 megawatts of electricity per module and can be configured to produce up to 924 megawatts. This flexibility allows NuScale to cater to varying customer demands across multiple sectors, underscoring its commitment to innovative energy solutions.

As NuScale embarks on this new chapter, it continues to strengthen its relationship with Fluor Corporation, its largest shareholder. This partnership is vital as both companies share a vision for advancing nuclear technology to meet global energy needs. By embracing innovative strategies and strong leadership, NuScale Power is well-positioned to lead the charge in developing sustainable nuclear energy solutions that are essential for combating climate change and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.

In addition to the leadership change, NuScale emphasizes its commitment to transparency and responsible communication, especially regarding forward-looking statements. The company acknowledges the inherent risks and uncertainties associated with future projections, ensuring that stakeholders remain informed as it navigates the complexities of the energy industry. With these developments, NuScale Power is poised to maintain its momentum in the nuclear sector while continuing to explore new opportunities for growth and innovation.
