Palo Alto Networks rewrites partner economics for an AI-driven security market

Palo Alto Networks is unveiling a next-generation NextWave Partner Program that recasts partner economics from transactional volume to “platformization” aimed at the AI era. The program, available to partners now, rewards technical expertise and service-led growth by enabling partners to integrate customers’ security stacks across network, cloud and SOC, a move the company says reduces customer complexity while expanding higher‑margin, partner‑led services.

The new NextWave emphasizes three transformative pillars. First, it enhances partner margins with streamlined rebates targeted at Next‑Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Next‑Generation Security (NGS) and platform adoption. Second, it accelerates deal velocity through improved Configure‑Price‑Quote tools, automated deal registration and upgraded service delivery tooling intended to cut friction and speed time‑to‑close. Third, it reinvests in partner growth through a Partner Development Fund (PDF) that channels earned rebates into demand generation, training and solution development.

Palo Alto Networks frames the program as a way to move partners away from “point‑product” cycles toward integrated, platform‑centric solutions that shrink attack surfaces and lower operational overhead. Simone Gammeri, the company’s chief partnerships officer, says the initiative empowers partners to dismantle complexity and deliver unified, AI‑driven resilience rather than simply selling software. The company says the package is built on global partner feedback and is intended to future‑proof partner revenue models as AI reshapes security.

Tailored paths target different partner types, aiming to convert the new economics into repeatable business models. Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) gain predictable, tiered pricing designed to scale high‑margin managed services, while distributors receive enhanced governance and support to spur Distributor Managed Partner expansion. Palo Alto Networks also plans a forthcoming “Global Path” for Global System Integrators (GSIs) later in the year that rewards multi‑theater influence and strategic consulting.

The program adds operational safeguards to improve deployment outcomes. Authorized Services offerings, including ASC and APS, provide real‑time deployment assistance to help ensure “first‑time‑right” implementations, a feature partners say reduces churn and increases customer confidence. Hugues Foulon, CEO of Orange Cyberdefense, calls NextWave a catalyst for deeper strategic collaboration and trust between vendors and large service partners.
