NextWave overhaul pivots partners to platformization for AI security
Palo Alto Networks is rolling out a revamped NextWave Partner Program that shifts partner economics from transactional volume to "platformization" tailored for the AI era. The company says the evolved program, available to partners now, rewards technical expertise and service‑led growth by enabling partners to integrate customer security stacks across network, cloud and SOC, reducing complexity while expanding high‑margin, partner‑led services. Palo Alto frames the change as a move away from point‑product selling toward integrated, platform‑centric outcomes that shrink customer attack surface and cut operational overhead.
The program emphasizes three core benefits designed from global partner feedback. First, it enhances partner margins through streamlined rebate structures focused on Next‑Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Next‑Generation Security (NGS) and platform adoption. Second, it accelerates deal velocity with an improved Configure‑Price‑Quote (CPQ) toolset, automated deal registrations and upgraded service delivery tooling to make sales and deployment more repeatable. Third, it creates a reinvestment loop via a new Partner Development Fund (PDF) that lets partners channel earned rebates into demand generation, training and solution development to build sustainable, service‑led revenue models.
Palo Alto says automation and stronger governance are intended to reduce friction, shorten time‑to‑close and make managed services scaleable, positioning partners to sell resilience rather than just software. The program includes Authorized Services (ASC & APS) to provide real‑time deployment assistance aimed at "first‑time‑right" implementations, reflecting an emphasis on reducing integration complexity as customers adopt AI‑powered security capabilities.
Specialised partner paths and tools
NextWave offers tailored tracks for different partner types: predictable, tiered pricing and incentives for Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) to scale high‑margin managed services; enhanced governance and support for Distributors to spur Distributor‑Managed Partner expansion; and a forthcoming "Global Path" for Global System Integrators (GSIs) that rewards multi‑theatre influence and strategic consulting later this year.
Executive and partner response
Simone Gammeri, Palo Alto Networks’ Chief Partnerships Officer, says the program empowers partners to dismantle complexity and deliver unified, AI‑driven resilience rather than simply selling software. Hugues Foulon, CEO of Orange Cyberdefense, calls NextWave a catalyst for deeper strategic collaboration and trust, saying the approach helps partners avoid the point‑product trap and build repeatable, high‑value services.
