Sabre strengthens core PSS tie-up with WestJet
Sabre is announcing a multi‑year renewal of its SabreSonic Passenger Service System with WestJet, reinforcing a long-standing technology partnership as the Canadian carrier pursues broader international growth. The extended agreement keeps SabreSonic at the centre of WestJet’s reservations, ticketing, check‑in and ancillary services, and preserves the carrier’s access to content distribution through SabreMosaic Travel Marketplace. The renewal is effective immediately upon signing.
The deal also positions WestJet to evaluate and adopt Sabre’s cloud‑native, modular SabreMosaic Airline Retailing platform and next‑generation Offer and Order technologies as the airline evolves its commercial model. Sabre frames the pact as supporting operational excellence today while laying groundwork for retailing modernization, a view its airline IT sales lead describes as a vote of confidence in Sabre’s product roadmap amid the industry‑wide shift toward real‑time offer creation and order management.
WestJet frames the agreement as an extension of a 25‑year relationship, saying Sabre’s proven technology, ongoing support and forward‑looking strategy align with its business and customer needs. The carrier, which serves more than 100 destinations across the Americas, Europe and Asia, is seeking systems that enable both current operations and the flexibility to unlock future revenue and retailing initiatives as it expands globally.
Industry transition to offers and orders
The renewal underscores a broader industry trend away from monolithic legacy systems toward modular, cloud‑native retailing stacks that separate offer creation, order management and fulfillment. For Sabre, retaining large carriers while offering a migration path to its SabreMosaic retailing components demonstrates its commercial strategy to monetize both PSS and next‑generation distribution capabilities.
Sabre’s scale and market positioning
Headquartered in Southlake, Texas, and serving customers in more than 160 countries, Sabre is leveraging scale and data insights to keep airlines, hoteliers and agencies connected to evolving distribution models. The WestJet renewal provides an immediate reaffirmation of Sabre’s role as a core technology provider to a major North American carrier while signalling continued demand for integrated payments, ancillary merchandising and marketplace distribution capabilities.
