Greenland Resources Advances Sustainable Mining with Updated Environmental Impact Assessment

Greenland Resources Inc. has recently submitted an updated Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for its Malmbjerg Molybdenum Project in eastern Greenland, marking a significant step in the company's commitment to sustainable mining practices. This new assessment aligns with the legal provisions of the Mining Act, which will come into effect on January 1, 2024. Although the EIA is not required for obtaining an exploitation license under the revised Mining Act, the company considers it vital for advancing towards production, reflecting its dedication to environmental stewardship and modern mining methodologies.

Executive Chairman Dr. Ruben Shiffman emphasizes that the Malmbjerg project stands out through its high-quality product offering and a contemporary mine design that minimizes environmental liabilities. The updated EIA evaluates 16 out of 19 environmental impacts as low or very low, with only four classified as medium. This comprehensive assessment highlights the project’s proactive approach to environmental management, a critical factor for gaining community and regulatory support. Furthermore, the assessment also addresses potential environmental risks associated with the Tailings Management Facility (TMF), which were deemed low following a recent independent feasibility study.
