UFP Industries (UFPI) is actively expanding its footprint in the outdoor living solutions market through its subsidiary Deckorators, which has recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Lackawanna, New York.
New Facility Enhances Production Capacity in the Northeast
This new plant, which began operations on June 25, 2026, is pivotal for Deckorators as it marks the company's first foray into the Northeast for production. The facility represents a significant investment of over $77 million and is designed to meet the surging demand for innovative decking products, particularly those featuring the proprietary Surestone® technology, which sets Deckorators apart in the industry.
The establishment of the new production site is expected to double the output capacity for popular product lines such as Voyage and Summit, generating 50 new full-time jobs and enhancing both production capabilities and operational efficiency.
Strategic Growth and Operational Efficiency
The strategic location of the new 253,310 square-foot facility on a 30-acre plot is aligned with Deckorators' goal to better support its retail partners and allow for future growth. The plant features an updated manufacturing building of 168,310 square feet, supplemented by a 19,000-square-foot addition to increase capacity.
Innovative Technology Drives Consumer Demand
The innovative Surestone technology is a game changer, significantly enhancing performance by reducing issues like cracking and separation, and boosting traction in wet conditions while remaining cooler underfoot than traditional PVC.
This technology has been identified as a major growth driver for Deckorators, catering to rising consumer preferences for premium outdoor living products.
The project benefits from considerable regional economic development incentives, including performance-based tax credits and tax incentives from local development agencies, further bolstering UFP Industries' commitment to growth in this sector.
