Utz Brands Unveils New Distribution Center to Enhance Operations
Utz Brands, Inc., a leading U.S. manufacturer of branded salty snacks, celebrates a significant milestone with the opening of its new Rice Distribution Center in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Named in honor of Michael W. Rice, who recently retired after over five decades with the company, the facility spans an impressive 650,000 square feet, equivalent to about 11 football fields. This state-of-the-art logistics hub is designed to optimize Utz’s supply chain operations by providing 73 dock doors and 375 trailer parking spots, enabling the management of approximately 2.3 million pallets and 1.1 billion pounds of products annually.
The new distribution center is expected to significantly enhance Utz's inventory storage and distribution capabilities across its U.S. operations. With the capacity to handle around 18 billion snack servings each year, the Rice Distribution Center is poised to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance service quality for Utz’s customers. Company CEO Howard Friedman and Michael W. Rice both emphasize the center's role in advancing Utz’s legacy of growth and operational excellence. The facility is not only a tribute to Rice's long-standing contributions but also a strategic investment in the future of Utz Brands.
In addition to expanding its logistics capabilities, Utz Brands takes community considerations into account by planning the installation of a traffic light at the intersection of High Street and Kindig Lane to alleviate congestion around the new center. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is set to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 5, 2024, marking a ceremonial start to operations at this critical hub. The construction of the facility was executed by Conewago Enterprises, Inc., a family-owned contractor based locally, further illustrating Utz's commitment to supporting local businesses.
In other company developments, Utz Brands has announced an increase in its annual dividend from $0.236 to $0.244 per share. This adjustment reflects the Board of Directors’ ongoing commitment to returning value to shareholders and underscores the company’s solid operational results. The quarterly cash dividend payment of approximately $0.061 per share is scheduled for January 2, 2025, to stockholders on record as of December 16, 2024.
With a legacy spanning over a century, Utz Brands continues to deliver high-quality snacks across various retail channels in the U.S., including grocery stores and clubs. The recent opening of the Rice Distribution Center not only symbolizes the company’s growth trajectory but also enhances its ability to meet consumer demands in an increasingly competitive market.
